Cherokee Tennis Association offers Mixed Doubles Leagues in the Spring and Fall. USTA membership is required. A team match will consist of 3 lines of doubles with a 10 point tie break in lieu of a third set.
USTA League Tennis Mixed Doubles allows players of different NTRP levels to play together, encouraging participants to form teams with their friends, family and co-workers. Players without a NTRP rating are permitted to self-rate. If a participant is actively playing in the USTA League Tennis Adult, then the Mixed Doubles match results do not affect the person's rating. A player who competes only in the Mixed Doubles leagues will generate a Mixed Doubles Rating.
The winners from each level will advance to the State Championship in August. In order to have a successful season, we need lots of teams. Please start speaking with everyone you know who plays at the 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels. Encourage them to form teams, the more the better! If you have a very large team, consider splitting into two teams. You only need 6 players each week. If you have court availability issues, we'll work with you! And as always, we'll accommodate anyone who has Men's/Women's USTA State playoff conflicts during the season!
A player's rating cannot exceed the highest rating shown on the chart. Players must be within 1.0 level of each other.

Southern Combo Doubles is currently the fastest growing adult program in USTA Southern. With a participation base of 55,000, you might be wondering what keeps the players coming back year after year? The answer is simple... Combo Doubles is FUN! The program allows participants to self rate, thus making it easy to play with family and friends. For most players, this is the program's single most attractive attribute. Local team play is available in Adult (same gender) combined levels 5.0, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5. Team matches consist of three doubles matches with a 10 point tie-break for the 3rd set.
Player Requirements: Teams must have a minimum of 6 eligible players registered by the deadline. It is suggested that there are no more than 10 players on a roster as only 6 are needed to play each match. Teams must play at the combined level (the combined NTRP rating of a doubles team). Teams must have at least 3 players rated lower than the maximum rating per player level. This league does not affect NTRP ratings.
An individual player’s rating must not exceed the highest rating allowed per level as follows:
5.0 level – rating cannot exceed 2.5 7.5 level – rating cannot exceed 4.0
5.5 level – rating cannot exceed 3.0 8.5 level – rating cannot exceed 5.0
6.5 level – rating cannot exceed 3.5 9.5 level – rating cannot exceed 5.5

Here are answers to two questions that TennisRecord.com are repeatedly asked.
Q. I received a rating for my last match that was higher than my dynamic rating going into the match and yet my new dynamic rating went down. How can this be?
A. This is not an error. This can occur because of how the dynamic rating is calculated. This will/can occur when a player receives a match rating that is a lot higher than their current dynamic rating which causes their dynamic rating to go up quite a bit and then in their next match they record a match rating that is higher than the new dynamic rating but lower than their previous high match rating. In this circumstance the player's dynamic rating will come down some because of the way the dynamic rating is calculated which involves the averaging of the previous dynamic ratings with the current match rating. The previous match rating which was abnormally high is not directly part of the calculation for the current dynamic rating. The reverse can also be true with an abnormally low match rating.
Q. I have read that when playing doubles my rating will move up or down the same amount as my partners rating and the gap between my parnter and I will remain the same. Why is this not occuring?
A. That is not exactly how it works. The match rating the doubles partners receive will be the same amount higher or lower from their current dynamic rating. So for instance, if one doubles player has a dynamic rating of 2.75 and another has a 2.85 and they play a match which results in an increase of 0.07 the first player will receive a match rating of 2.83 and the other will receive a match rating of 2.93. Therefore, the gap between the 2 players remains the same for the match rating received however how this impacts their new calculated dynamic rating can be different depending on their previous dynamic ratings and the averaging that takes place to calculate the new dynamic rating. So, only the gap in the match ratings will be the same for sure and not the new dynamic rating each player gets.
