Creating a USTA Team (captains).

Captains Please Note

If you are creating a Fall Combo Doubles team League year is 2010.

For Fall Mixed Doubles League and Adult Winter Team Leagues the league year is 2011 and the Championship Year 2010 August Early Start Ratings (ESL ratings) are in effect. Please make sure to review your player's ESL ratings before signing up for 2010 leagues.

If you are a player and wish to register yourself, you must obtain the team number from your captain and then proceed to Step 4.

If you are a captain and you are ready to create your team:

  1. Go to the TennisLink homepage. Enter your USTA number in the “Captain/Coordinator” sign-in box and click the “Go” button.
     
  2. If you have been a captain before you will see a screen asking you to confirm your e-mail address. Please update your e-mail address if it has changed and/or click ‘Continue’.
     
     
  3. Captains must create a new team number each season. The following steps create a team number and register the captain on that team.
    1. Click on the “Create a team On-Line” link located under the “League Play” section of the TennisLink homepage.
    2. Select Section (USTA/SOUTHERN)
    3. Select District (GEORGIA)
    4. Select Area (GA – CHEROKEE – CTA – 2011)
    5. Select League (ex: 2010/2011 Cherokee Weekday Women - Winter)
    6. Select Flight (ex: 3.0 Women)
    7. Enter Team Name using this format: Home Courts – Captain’s First & Last Name (ex: Cherokee Tennis Center – Maria Sharapova)
    8. Select Home Courts – Select your home facility from the list. If your facility is not on the list click on the “Other Facility” button. When the facility locator window appears, type in the zip code of your home facility in the zip code box and then click on the ‘Search’ button. When you see your facility, click on it. The facility locator screen will close and your facility will now appear in the ‘Home Courts’ entry on the original team creation page. (NOTE: If you can not find your facility, send an e-mail immediately to linkteam@usta.com. Within that e-mail, include the name of your facility and the facility zip code. You will not be able to proceed until your facility has been added by USTA!)
    9. Click “Create Team”
    10. Follow the instructions on step 4 below to add yourself to your team. As a captain you need to provide a phone number when signing up.
    11. Write down your Team Number. Print a copy for your confirmation. You need this number to give to additional players who will register for your team at a later date. (NOTE: If you did not receive a ‘Congratulations’ screen with an invoice number, then your team is not registered and the team number you have is not valid).

  4. To register individual players on a team, follow these steps:
    1. NOTE: If you are a captain registering players on a brand new team that you are in the midst of creating, proceed to step ‘2’. If you are a player registering for an existing team, be sure that you have your team number from your captain and then proceed to http://national.usta.com. Then, click on the “Register for a team” link under the “League Play” section.
    2. Enter the USTA number of the player or players starting on Line #1 (NOTE: Captains be aware – The USTA number that was used to log into TennisLink will always appear on the first line of the registration screen. Do not register yourself twice!!).
    3. Enter your new team number for the current season.
    4. If you do not have a USTA rating, the system will prompt you to enter your self-rating. If you are a captain, please do not register players who need to self-rate UNLESS THAT INDIVIDUAL HAS INFORMED YOU OF WHAT LEVEL HE/SHE WANTS TO SELF-RATE AT!! If you choose a rating for another person and they do not agree with that rating, it cannot be changed once a match is played. If you self-rate for another person and a grievance is filed against that person for playing below their ability, you may be held responsible as well.
    5. Once you have added all players, click the “Next Step” button.
    6. The payment screen will then appear. Enter the necessary credit card information and then click the “Continue” button.
    7. When the confirmation page is displayed, you are registered!!
