Cherokee
County’s USTA adult program is open to men and women 18
years and older, with skill levels ranging from beginner
to advanced. Local Cherokee County winners will advance
on to compete in state, sectional and even national championships.
In Cherokee County, USTA has two seasons for adults, summer
and winter. Team play consists of 2 singles and 3 doubles
positions. The only exception is the 2.5 level, which
consists of 1 singles and 2 doubles positions. Men play
on Sunday afternoon during the summer season and Saturday
mornings during the winter season. Business women play
on Sunday afternoons during the summer season and on Saturday
afternoons during the winter season.
The National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP)
is used to determine playing levels. The Cherokee Tennis
Association offers league play at the 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
Low, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 levels. Players
may self-rate unless they have a current computer rating.
There is a $12.00 league fee per season per player (includes
Tennislink fee) and a USTA membership is required.
